Mike Sands, CPA, Partner
Mike’s time with KLB & Co. began in 1983 after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. Cloud State University. His primary practice areas are business and individual tax preparation and planning, and accounting and auditing services including financial statement preparation. The industries served include construction contractors, nonprofit organizations, and homeowner associations. He also oversees the firm’s Peer Review and quality control policies and procedures.
Mike is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants.
In his spare time, Mike enjoys playing golf.
Mike Youngquist, CPA, Partner
Mike joined KLB & Co. in 1993 after obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Bemidji State University. Mike practices in a variety of tax and accounting areas, focusing on tax planning and compliance for individuals, small businesses, trusts and estates. Mike enjoys being part of the team that helps our clients achieve their financial goals.
Mike is a member of the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has served in leadership roles in local charities, service clubs, and in his church.
Mike enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and camping.
Jennie Roth, CPA, Partner
Jennie began her career with KLB & Co. in 2004. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Bemidji State University. In her line of work, she assists clients with individual and small business taxation and accounting. Jennie’s favorite part about her position is the variety of clients and industries she is exposed to within public accounting.
Jennie is a member of the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Jennie’s hobbies include reading, baking and crafting.
Richard L. Kummet, CPA
Rick is a graduate of St. Cloud State University and has been with KLB & Co. since 1977. Rick’s areas of expertise include business and individual taxation, estate planning and reporting, and fiduciary reporting/service activities.
Rick is a member of the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has and continues to serve on various community organization boards and is involved with local charities.
He and his wife Debbie are life-long residents of Brainerd.
Laura Richter, CPA - Retired
Laura joined KLB & Co. in 1989. A graduate of St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Laura has over 30 years’ experience in providing accounting and tax services to a wide range of clients and industries. Laura’s tax experience includes tax return preparation for corporations, partnerships, individuals, payroll and sales tax. Laura also specializes in accounting support which includes QuickBooks implementation, training and accounting review. She also aids in managing cash flow and other accounting services for small and medium-sized businesses. Laura values the client relationships she develops and makes it her goal to always make the client her first priority.
Laura resides in Brainerd and enjoys golfing, biking, reading (mysteries and biographies) and the pursuit of trivia and other games with family and friends.
Matt Dahl, CPA, Senior Staff Accountant
Matt started with KLB & Co. in 2000 after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management in 1999 from the University of Minnesota Crookston and then his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Bemidji State University in 2000. Matt assists clients with business and individual taxation and business accounting. He enjoys the process of learning as much as possible about the trades in which his clients work.
Matt is a member, former Regional Director, and former Treasurer of the Minnesota Association of Public Accountants and the former Treasurer of First Lutheran Church of Little Falls.
We have Minnesota Twins fans here at KLB & Co., but probably none bigger than season ticket holder, Matt! He also enjoys reading mystery novels and books on baseball sabermetrics. Matt and his wife Tifanii reside in Little Falls but love to spend time at the lake fishing.
Katie Johnson, CPA, Staff Accountant
In 2011, Katie joined the staff of KLB & Co. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. Cloud State University. In her position as Staff Accountant, Katie assists clients with business and individual taxation and small business accounting. Katie enjoys working with everyone at KLB & Co. to help our clients with all their tax and accounting needs.
Katie and her partner have two daughters and a dog. She loves spending time with her family as well as reading and quilting.
Roman Haberkorn, Staff Accountant
In 2017, Roman joined the staff here at KLB & Co. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from the University of St. Thomas as well as a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. In his position, he assists clients with small business accounting and taxation of businesses, individuals, and lawful gambling organizations. Roman enjoys putting the puzzle together for clients when preparing their tax returns to ensure the best possible tax position for them.
Roman is married with two cats and he loves to play golf!
Tracy Bock, Accounting Services Associate
Tracy began her work at KLB & Co. in 2014 with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Bemidji State University. She handles the payroll, payroll tax reports, bookkeeping, and individual tax preparation for our clients.
Tracy loves to read, travel, and watch TV and movies in her spare time. She also is a member of the Brainerd Jaycees.
Joan Oscarson, Accounting Services Associate
Joan started with KLB & Co. in 2014. She received her 2-year accounting degree from Central Lakes College. She assists with bookkeeping, payroll, and other accounting duties.
When Joan isn’t working, she loves cooking, baking, reading, traveling, and baseball. She is also a bingo enthusiast!!
Mary Olson, Tax Processor/Office Assistant
Mary joined the team at KLB & Co. in 2009. Her duties include the processing of tax returns and financial statements, and other duties as needed. The most enjoyable parts of her job are the variety of duties she has, the great staff she works with, and interacting with clients.
Mary’s family consists of her husband Bill, three sons, and four grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
Janet Walters, Receptionist
Jan became the receptionist with KLB & Co. in 2011 and has gotten to know our clients as they come into the office year after year. She is the friendly face you see behind the front desk that greets everyone with a smile. What she enjoys most about her position is her co-workers and she appreciates the positive work environment.
Jan’s interests include spending time with her family and friends while enjoying the outdoors.
